Mike Burks has been a dedicated leader for over 15 years, bringing consistency, professionalism, and a strong work ethic to every role he’s held—including his current position as General Manager of Bristol Seafood Grill in Leawood, KS.

Mike’s deep understanding of hospitality, coupled with a commitment to excellence, has earned him the respect of both his team and guests. Known for being well-respected by peers and colleagues alike, Mike leads with integrity, passion, and a people-first mindset.

In 2023, Mike was honored as General Manager of the Year—a reflection of his exceptional leadership and the high standards he sets every day.

Outside the restaurant, Mike cherishes spending time with his family. Together, they enjoy cooking, hiking, swimming, and traveling to new destinations.

David Padberg


Executive Chef

David Padberg’s culinary journey began in his hometown of Kansas City, where he started his career at the acclaimed American Restaurant under James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith. Surrounded by legendary guest chefs and inspired by their craft, David traveled across the U.S. to train in their kitchens—an early sign that travel and exploration would become central themes in his life and cooking.

In 2001, David set off for Europe and immersed himself in the diverse culinary cultures across the continent. Returning stateside, he landed in Portland, Oregon, where he worked under another James Beard Award-winner, Cory Schreiber. Over the next decade, David became a fixture in Portland’s top kitchens, earning two James Beard nominations during his time at Park Kitchen.

In 2006, David’s travels took him to Japan, where he fell in love with the country's culinary traditions and became a Certified Sake Sommelier. His deepening passion for Japanese cuisine led to a defining opportunity in 2014: launching a Japanese restaurant at the world-renowned Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In 2017, David helped launch Farina, an acclaimed restaurant that earned him the title of “Rising Star Chef” from Feast Magazine. In 2021, he brought his leadership and global culinary perspective to Bristol Seafood Grill in Leawood, where he has served as Executive Chef ever since.

Kathy Kovach

Sales & Events Manager

With an impressive 23 years of leadership experience with our company, Kathy brings a wealth of experience, heart, and hospitality to every event she helps create. Her journey began as a server and hostess, growing into management roles before finding her true calling as Sales and Events Manager—a role she’s excelled in for the past 13 years.    In 2023, Kathy was honored as Sales Manager of the Year, a testament to the five-star service she provides to her clients.

Throughout her career, Kathy has had the opportunity to work with all of the brands in our portfolio and is currently responsible for private events at J. Gilbert’s in Overland Park and Bristol Seafood Grill in Leawood.

Kathy finds genuine joy in connecting with guests and helping them plan their perfect event. Whether it’s an intimate dinner or a grand celebration, she takes pride in understanding each guest’s unique vision and bringing it to life with care, creativity, and attention to detail.

Helping people create unforgettable memories isn’t just her job—it’s her passion.
